After many sleepless nights, I've finally completely documented the process of installing Windows XP to the original Apple TV. Which means... RELEASE TIME! The release and guide can be found at https://github.com/DistroHopper39B/NTATV/releases/tag/v0.1.
heartbreaking: fellow software in open protocol displays my posts in a slightly different format than i expect. this is bad and i am angry
just say you want twitter. please just say you want twitter 2
I should run an instance on my network to compete with doskel as the shittiest one ever. y'all appreciating your high bandwidths too much
ah, a mail server, famously one of the easiest services to run (!)
@kopper ngl. why is social software a pain to run, generally speaking?
email, fedi, forums, matrix, whatever...
... we suppose there's always IRC but uh. anyway.
@SoniEx2 the answer for email is spam. i feel like both forums and fedi are quite reasonable to run tech wise (their challenges only really show up in social ways). matrix just sucks and irc is ancient software where people just didn't care about anyone not willing to dive into reading source code to bring up a basic server
@kopper@brain.d.on-t.work I .. don't get it? In the sense of why you need your own email server Like I and friends use Google's public IMAP for git send-email, I never had issues with that, and I always hear people complaining about it, but I never saw any actual problems other than the configurations being confusing (which is a valid complaint, just not the one I hear)
@gwenthekween for contributing, you don't strictly need it (unless you're on one of the snakeoil mail providers that don't let you use SMTP), but for letting other people contribute you at the very least need a mailing list (if you want to work in public) which no "personal" mail service will accept under their TOS, so you either pay through the nose for one of those marketing mail servers or run your own (or try to find someone else already hosting mailing list software and ask if they'll let you in)
@rosie @gwenthekween i believe the intention is to be paid (with exceptions depending on project) when it's outside the alpha / beta / wherever-they-are-now-in-development phase. though i haven't been there for a while so i may have missed any recent changes
my mother always thought i was like sheldon. which is funny because the big bang theory is genuinely annoying
@sterophonick i think autistic people being compared to sheldon is a universal experience
fingerprinting was a thing for ages and google isn't no way the first to do it can y'all stop scaring people into buying your snake oil mail that doesn't even work outside your shit electron client RE:
But, we all remember that Google removed “Don’t be evil” from its Code of Conduct in 2018
wow
@melontini so sad fgillion dollar corporation removed their motto of don't make money
when did we stop giving a damn about optimizing software
@rosie was it you who was constantly meatriding p9 in tn
sshnet rosie@segfault.us.to
in the namespace root, and all subsequent processes just blindly use the tunnelto whomever it may concern: i hate phone keyboards so much
Fun fact: it is literally, objectively impossible to legally watch Ultra HD Blu-Rays on a desktop computer, because Cyberlink PowerDVD is the only legal way to watch Blu-Rays of any sort on PC at all and it dropped support for UHD BRs.
Once again, DRM exclusively and disproportionately affects legal users without being a blip in the way of pirates (MakeMKV works just fine)
@rosie imo the only people who actively use jxl are the gnome designers
